Commentsi want a jack russel terrier!!!! so bad!!
CommentsThanks for your story. It was fun to read. We have a 4 month old female JR and a 3 year old female American Eskimo. That get along wonderfully together ... and as you would believe, the JR quite often has the upper hand with the Eskimo. Maybe that's how they get along. Over the holiday my son and his wife have been here to visit with their 85 pound chocolate labrador. It's really funny watching the 85 pound Lab, 25 pound Eskimo, and the 9 pound JR play together. It's a good thing the Lab is just a gentle giant. Thanks for sharing.
CommentsI have a JRT. He is 4.5 years old. Just a pet quality boy but so enjoyable. I work as a travel nurse. Working as different hospitals for 3 months then moving on to the next assignment. Currently in Kansas then on to Arizona. I would like to learn more about hunting with Milo. He craves activity so much. Thanks for an enjoyable web site

While visiting your web site, Angel heard your dog barking and decided to see what was going on. She is sitting in my lap while I'm typing these comments. She came into the room and was turning her head at the keyboard, knowing it was one of her kind. Thanks

CommentsMY GIRL FRIEND AND I LOST OUR LIITLE GIRL LACEY PEARL BACK IN JULY SHE WAS FOURTEEN. HAD TO PUT HER DOWN BECAUSE OF KIDNEY FAILURE. WE ARE STATRING TO GET OVER OUR GRIEVING AND THINKING ABOUT GETTING ONE. WE LIKE TO WATCH FRASIER AND I WOULD IMAGINE THAT STAR EDDIE IS A JACK RUSSELL.I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IF THERE ARE ANY BREEDERS IN MY AREA? THANKS JOE VANN
CommentsOur new pup is 8 weeks old and a bundle of energy and fun. I have to leave it 12 hrs. a day but I also have another dog that is 4 years old and she is adjusting to our new baby. I worry about leaving it alone. I have it pened up in the master bedroom bath and hopefully it will adjust in a few short days. I will be off work the end of November and then in December hoping that I will be able to spend more time with it and help it out with the potty training. So far, Sammy seems to be very alert, likes to go for walks and is aware when he has to go potty and tries to let me know. He seems like a very bright, energetic puppy!
CommentsWe have a 5 month old male JRT.....he's quite a handful! But we love him and know that life would not be the same without him!
CommentsHi: My name is Vigor and I love to hunt. I just need one more certificate. But I am afraid I will get rusty before I get bronzed. We have lots of possums near our house on 190 acres, a cedar swamp, and a river, and the neighbors too. We don't live too far from you, and wonder why you haven't been to see us for a while. Should we wait until we get a freeze up first? I hate skunks, I got skunked minding my own business this summer in my kennel, nasty guys, those striped fellows. But we haven't seen many lately. Say hi to Jewel for me.
CommentsI would like to know if there are breeders in Québec please
CommentsWe just got a Jack Russel 2 months ago. Against everyones advice he wouldn't get along with our 6 year old male rotweiler. Well they get along great. They play and sleep together... or rather Elijah (our Jack Russell) sleeps on Gideon ( our Rotweiler ) They are quite a pair.
CommentsExcellent web site - wehave had JR's for 20 years and they never cease to amaze us. At present, we have 2 - both rescue dogs and they give us endless pleasure albeit that they have very strong personalities!
CommentsI have a 15 month old bitch. Her grand dad is Foxfeild Flex on the top side which is from Riverview Flare and a lot of Button Top stuff on the bottom. I wish I knew someone who would let her hunt. I am also considering breeding. If I go back towards a Flare type breeding is this in- breeding or line breeding? I really like your Micro Dog is why I'm asking. Thanks for your time, Robie Williams
CommentsWe have a 1 yr. old bitch, two color tan & white with kind of a mixed coat,10 3/4" H, 14" chest. She has good pedigree. We are starting our search for a stud. Would very much like to have two color tan & white pups. Ed

CommentsWe saw a TV program that had JRT's steeplechase racing. Wondered if there is an organization in Alberta or Canada that handles that. Also, can you provide the contact number for the Jack Russell Terrier Club of Canada? We are having a hard time finding any information. Thanks and we love your website! Good looking dogs! Melinda & Tony Thompson Didsbury, Alberta
CommentsI live in Tacoma, WA. I was looking for a Fox Terrier and answered an ad in the newspaper for a Jack Russel. Went out to look at the litter and this little one stole my heart. She was the runt of the litter. I asked if the mom and dad were registered and they were. When I tried to register "Tiny Too", I was told she had an ear that would not go down and that she had a knee joint that slipped out of place. The breeders were informed of this but,of course, I was totally in love with my little dog. I think she is beautifully marked and has a wonderful disposition. My problem is that it is hard to find a male Jack Russel that I can mate her with, She is small for the breed and is three years old. Can you give me advice to help solve my problem.
CommentsHello ! Is it possible to have a Jack russell has a familly dog. I have a 4 year old and work 5 days a week. I was told be many that it is not good. Thanking you in advance.

Commentswe love our jrt. 2 years ago we saw his picture in the adopt a pet section of the paper and knew he was for us. He was 10 weeks old at the time. He had been at the pound for 1 week and no one came to claim him. Like all jrt's he has very distinct markings and living in a small city it was only a matter of time before someone stopped me and demanded "where did you get that dog?" He claimed it was his and he had lost it when he had put it out on the front porch to play one morning. Sorry I said but he has a good home now with children and adults who take care of him. That was 1-1/2 years ago and I haven't bumped into that person again. Anyway, we love his energy and intelligence and the way he acts so ferocious if a stranger approach;s. They truly are wonderful dogs.

CommentsYou are so right! Our 22 month female, Miss Jiff, totally runs our house...she is our master! Do JRT's loose any of that puppy energy?
CommentsLoved your "article" about JRT's. We have been thinking about adding to our family for several years, but had not decided what kind of "child" we would like. After much discussion, we finally decided on a JRT. Then began the quest for some "validation" for our choice. Your web site did just that. Thank you, Rick and Anna Sorkness
CommentsWe saw the picture of Banner, he's a handsome young boy. We have been a yellow Lab family for quite some time and we're now thinking of purchasing a Jack Russell as a pet for our family. Please if you could send us information regarding Banner or any other opportunities regarding a Jack Russell. If you also have any information that would direct us to a closer Jack Russell family in B.C. it would be very apprieciated do to our desire to aquire such a wonderful breed for our caring family. Sincerely yours, Patrick & Deliose Stott

CommentsI love your web page. I have just gotten a JRT this summer and I love him to death!! Your web page is very informing and cool.
CommentsWe have a male jrt, just barely a year old. White with brown spots. I've always wanted a jrt, but my husband was used to "Big" dogs. Thankfully we finaly got one and "Gentleman Jack" is spoiled more than our 4 children. He goes to work with us and is great with kids. He is the only dog I know of that is allergic to Tide detergent. After many hours at the vet and alot of bare skin, we figured it out! He's doing great now and I really don't know what we'd do without him. We also have a 4 month old kitten and Jack is very protective of her

CommentsI have one JRT and I am looking to add to my family in the spring of 2001 or sooner. I would like to Know how to get started in JRT Trails.
CommentsI would like to know more about the JRT. My wife and I are avid hunters and this sounds like a dog we could really enjoy having along with us. We live in a rural area and would not have a problem with taking the dog out.
CommentsI have thoroughly enjoyed you web-site. We have two JRT's Hickie & Paddy - Paddy is all black & tan with no white at all, so quite different. She also suffers from Idiopathic Epilepsy, have you come across this with any JRT's you know? My two are very keen ratters, and ace with foxes! I keep them away from Badgers if I can because (a) it's illegal over here, and (b) badgers are very aggresive & large. Your hunting pictures look very similar to my exploits, but we have different animlas over here, no coons etc.! Keep up the good work! Caroline xx
CommentsWe would like to here more about fox digging and earth dogs
CommentsI own the cutest Jack Russel Terrier. He's two and a half and full grown. He still looks like a puppy. He was the runt of the litter. If you ever want some really cute pictures for your website , i'd be glad to give you some of Bailey (his name)

CommentsFor seven years, we had a wonderful Jackie, Rosie, who was the dog of our hearts. She was best friend to all of us (especially the cat!) and wonderfully trained. She was another member of the family, and slept with my son every night. She unexplicably ran out onto the street and was killed by a car this past May. I would like to inquire whether you have any little shortys that need a home. I need to get an adult dog, because I am a teacher and no longer home with the children all day. I would love to have another JRT. Please let me know if there is such an opportunity to love a dog. I would like to have another such dog, but I cannot take the time to train.
CommentsMy one year old JRT is like having another child. She sleeps in bed with my husband and I, and usually goes every whear we go except work. She has been on many vacations with us. My mother even treats her as one of the Grand kids. She is spoiled and a great addition to the family. She is a short leg short hair, brown head and white body, absolutely gorgeous. Her favorite past time is playing soccer with the kids. She is a ball hog.
CommentsHello, Just checking out your webpage. I'm looking for JRT Trials (begenning training Agility classes in my area). If you have any suggestions that would be great. Thanks, Raylene & "Rusty" Jennings
CommentsWell, to start off I love your page... I have a 8 month old JRT and she is my baby I dont go anywhere without her. This past week My husband and I were robbed And I just Thank GOD that my little girl was not there when it happened.. I am not sure what I could do without her. By the way her name is PEPPER she is the brown and white color she is also very small, And as you know she is very hyper. but I have NEVER seen a JRT that is not a little Wild.. The first time I ever saw a JRT I told my husband that I had to have one and 2 months later we found a ad in the paper,, We called the man that had them and he said that he had lots of them, that we could just come by and see which one we wanted.. When we got there the daddy of the Family was outside the gate and jumped into our car, We looked at all the puppies and we pick the one that was the smallest and the one that was always behind the rest of the puppies.. That day when we got her to our home she was the BEST puppie that anyone could ever ask for !!!! That night we nade a BIG mistake,, she slept with us. The following morning I felt something chewing on my ear and what could it be only one thing My baby girl!!!! We have had some of the best times with this baby and now i am not sure if I want to have children, Because I dont want all the attention taken off PEPPER. Another thing i would like to share with you is that she has NEVER been left alone,, Yes, I know that is bad for her but i just cant leave her by herself when my husband and I are working she stays with my parents and she really doesnt know that she is really a dog . But she is really something Special !!!! Thanks for all your time sorry to have typed so much !!!
CommentsI Have a Jack Russell terrier named buster (7Months) with my Fiance Joe. He's Our "baby" for now and boy does he ever take full advantage of it. It's a learning experience to say the least.
CommentsI absolutely LOVE your website!!!! It's full of information, adorable pictures, and humor!! Ya'll must be wonderful, loving people to care so much about JRT's that you would create such an interesting and pleasing website!! Thanks ever so much for allowing me to visit!! Suzy Page

Commentsi like your dogs. I just got one for myself and can hardly let go of him. I have had hunting dog all my life and this is the only one I ever got this close to. Do you know if they will make a good squril dog or not, and do they bark on tree? Jerry
CommentsGreat site! You seem to really care about the integrity of the breed, I find that quite impressive compared to some other breeders. I have two male jacks "Eddie" and "Moose", they are eleven weeks old and brothers. Our life is so much happier now that we have them.

CommentsExcellent website! I have a 7 year old JR from Rose Reid. Thinking about another next spring as I can't imagine house breaking through a Yukon winter. Reidell Cleo loves canoe tripping, mountain hiking and playing frisbee. Despite all the huskies in this neck of the woods I have met a few JR owners up here. I'll be in touch. Cynthia

CommentsThanks, I enjoyed your website. I'm looking for a dog that fits into my situation. I am a condo dweller with a teenage daughter and two dog savvy cats. The condo has a patio with a 4 1/2 foot wall on the second story. I ride horses a lot and would want a dog to come with me (trail). I have been told that these dogs may not do well left in a condo for several hours a day (the dog would have full access to the house and the patio). What do you think? Is it worth my time to learn more about this intelligent breed? Any info or breeders in my area (Los Angeles, California) or books, etc., would be very much appreciated. Christine

CommentsI have a rough coated JRT that was abused and abandoned at l0 weeks and rescued. We adopted him from the rescuers. He has light gold green eyes and a pink brownish nose. His coat is white and a very light tan. I need to know any advise on training him. Thanks. I also need a good collar that doesn't choke.
CommentsWe have recently added Tucker to our family. He is a male Jcak Russell that was born on May 27,2000. His parents are Ironwood Lucy and Jake Thornhill. He is already bringing so much joy into our home. We are anxious to learn more about how we can help him reach his full potential.

CommentsI want a full grown jack russell terrier that has already been house trained. I need one for christmas. any suggestions?
CommentsMy girlfriend and purchased a jack russell terrier pup two months ago. I noticed that the pup exhibited a tenacity toward large tom cats and dogs that one wouldn't expect from such a small animal. This puppy is very adept at using his paws to grasp objects and is extremely agile. I find him somewhat stuborn and more difficult to train than other breeds but he is very intellegent. I have never seen a breed that seems to naturally love children the way this one does. He plays very rough I have cuts all over my arms where he has scratched me with his claws and teeth it is as though he is honing his hunting instincts. I find that the rougher I play with him he more than matches me and usually ups the ante. I have more fun with this pup than I have any other dog .
CommentsWE HAVE A 1YR OLD JRT, VERY WONDERFUL DOG. HIS NAME IS MAX. HAS BROUGHT US A LOT OF HAPPY DAYS. VERY ENERGETIC AND HAPPY.

CommentsJust bought a female JRT and named her Tia. Was told by the seller that there are no papers with most JRT's but she comes from a long line of JRT's. What is the status with AKC. Am planning to build her an obstacle course and possibly hunt. What are options if I decide in 2 to 3 years to allow her to have pups? Am very excited about Tia - she is very unusual in nature and extremely alert!

CommentsWe have a wonderful Jack Russell Terrier called Olfert who is used mainly for hunting and relaxing. He lives together with 2 labrador retrievers.
CommentsMy jackrussel is my best friend! he is very energetic and fast!!! My dogs name is willie. My dog is very healthy big muscles and always seems as if he has a smile on his face. without my dog in my life i would be bored and wouldnt be able to play fetch in the park.
CommentsI have two JR's - Nicki is 6 1/2 year old female and Tom a male 4 yrs. We have had one litter (2 males and 2 females)in April of 1997. I keep up with all of them and even have photographs. Growing up with all breeds of dogs my Dad would get from time to time and my own. I find JR's to be the most intelligent. There is never a dull moment in my house with these two.If they could wash clothes, vacuum and cook (which they are always right there with me)I could give up my day job! They say it takes a very special kind of person to "live" with a Jack Russell. I know what a special gift I have been given in sharing my life with Nicki and Tom.
CommentsInvestigating the breed as a companion pet; may be interested in training and showing. Looking for compatible bloodlines. Would welcome information for breeders on availability of pups.

Commentswe have a 10 month old. he is starting obedience school next month.
CommentsI am a JRT mom to be!! I'm not sure if I am getting a male or female, the breeder has to do a temper test first. My new pup will come home in six weeks from now. It is only two weeks old. I can't wait!!!
CommentsWe just got a JRT puppy. He is six weeks old and we are just having a ball with him. We are really happy that he is part of our family.
CommentsI now have 2 males. One is broken coated and one is smooth. Both are 14 inches tall and are just turning three years old. I had a real nice broken coat female that had pups on July 6, 00 but she died at the Vet's on the 14th. He said she had Milk fever from having a large litter of 4 males and 4 females. He injected cow calcium instead of dog calcium and she died within minutes of the injection. We are raising the pups with eyedroppers and puppy milk replacer. They are fat and doing excellent. My males are hell on cats at my farm but treat my pet cat with respect. There aren't many little critters at the farm anymore and the dogs sure like helping my boy catch a sheep and heel the cattle. They are all over in my haystacks and are constantly on the hunt. They will fetch dead birds out of the water or on dry land. It does'nt take much to make a good retriever look bad with them around. They get along great together and mind extremely well. My family would think life is extremely boring without our JRT's. My males are both 14 inches tall. Good Luck Kelly
CommentsI have 2 males. They are both 14 inches tall and extremely athletic. I have a pet cat that they live with but they are hell on any stray cats. My farm doesn't have many small critters around any more and what mice are around scurry for cover. They crawl all over in my hay stacks and root out whatever they can. One is smooth coat and the other broken coat. I had a nice broken coat female two years old that we just lost at the Vet's. She apparently succumbed to Milk fever on her eighth day after giving birth to 4 males and 4 females. He injected some cow calcium in her and she died in minutes. We have been raising the pups with eyedroppers and feeding them puppy milk replacer every 4 hours. They were born July 6 and are doing extremely well now. Some have broken coats and some are smooth. Everybody that is around these dogs wants one. They are an absolute blast. They will grab my cattle by the heels and help the boy grab whatever sheep he is trying to catch. They like to help if they can use their teeth but they are very easy to control. They love the water and make a good retriever look bad if he isn't on the ball. They will fetch dead birds and dummies out of the water or off of land. My family thinks life would be pretty boring without our JRT's. Good Luck Kelly
CommentsThis information is very usefull to me. good job!!!
CommentsCongratulations on your many wins @ the OH-PA!!
CommentsSASSY IS ONE OF THE MOSST BEAUTIFULL DOG I EVER SEEN. I HAVE ABOY THAT HAS THE SAME FASE. ALEWX

CommentsI AM SORT OF A NEW JACK RUSSEL OWNER. I HAVE A ONE YEAR OLD FEMALE. SHE HAS A ROUGH COAT AND A PERSONALITY TO MATCH. SHE IS A GREAT COMPANION. JUST A LATE LEARNER.ONE THING THAT I NOTICED ABOUT THIS BREED. THEY ARE NOT AFRAID OF ANYTHING, NO MATTER WHAT THE SIZE.I AM INTERESTED IN BREEDING HER WITHIN THE NEXT 6-9 MONTHS. IF YOU HAVE A MALE AND ARE INTERESTED PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME.
CommentsI think you web site is very interesting! I was just wondering where you are located.
CommentsGreat site. I have a Jack Russell rough coat his name is Jake and love him to death. He my friend and always by my side,he love to play ball it seem it always the same time each day as if he has it time when to play. He does not like small children when the grand children come over all you have to say to him Jake go to bed and he does and stays there until the grand children go. after they go he seem very upset and it take him an couple of hours to get over it,He will not look at me or have any thing to do with me at this time.Like I said it take a couple of hours and then he is fine. Jake also don't like it when am talking to other as he will jump at me and bark for me to stop talking when other are here. I understand how he is feeling so I give him as much love and understanding. Are all Jake Russell like this or is it just Jake as he is mad at me for the time I spend with my grand children. Thanks for a great site. Gayle
CommentsI thought you web site was realy good with lots of realy intersting infomation which realy help me with my school project. Thanks a lot P.S. You site good be a little bit better by adding more photows.
CommentsJust getting started with Jacks, have four pups under 1 yr. training for GTG, racing, & later for hunting.
CommentsWe purchased our first Jack Russell terrier a few days ago. His name is Jackson and he is a dandy companion. Jackson takes us on walks, already has us, his people, trained to let him in and out of our fenced in yard. A few factors have made Jackson's addition to our family smooth and happy for us and for him. He is crate trained and he sleeps happily in his crate at night. We provided him with a nice outdoor kennel with a doghouse and plenty of shade and fresh water for his daytime hours. He is six months old and housetrained already, so his indoor hours are whenever we are at home. These animals are superior in intelligence, have an apparent joy in life, and are very friendly with humans. We are being sure to respect Jackson's needs and individual personality. We don't engage him in play that will lead to puppy biting or in play with household objects. We want to reinforce his natural good tendencies and diminish any poor habits as soon as we see them. Thanks for this forum! One more note, we bought our dog from a reputable breeder, we invested in proper equipment for him, and plan to have him live out his long life in our family. Best of luck to new Jack Russel owners! Kris and Jim
CommentsYou don't live too far from me. If I cross the bridge this year, maybe I can stop and see your Jacks.
CommentsI've raised and bred American Pit Bull Terriers for some 15 yrs and love the breed. But have recently gotten away from the breed only due to society's ill concept of the breed (due largely to unscrupulous owners who are the minority). I am now looking for a family pet who can "keep up" with my family's love for the outdoors, ie; camping and hiking. From what I've read of the JRT they are; in a sense of speaking, little Pit Bull Dogs! Fearless, fun loving, athletic, and people oriented. I'm in my research phase now. In the near future I would like to own a smooth coat male.
CommentsGetting my J.R. this Saturday and looking forward to having him!! My boyfriend has the father and his daughter has the mother. He was the runt of the litter, has short legs and VERY passive. Loved him the first time I saw him.I live by myself and have 2 grown children and a granddaughter. I have been very depressed lately and seeing a shrink. He recommended that I get one. I know that he will bring many years of happiness to me. His name is Bailey!!
CommentsNice site.
CommentsHello: Perhaps you can offer some friendly advice. I am a bachelor, and live in an apartment. Would it be wise to try to own a Jack Russell Terrier? I had a neighbor who had one, and he kept him in a crate during the day while he was at work. I know that they are high strung dogs, and like to run and play a lot. What would you recommend? Thanks So Much, Greg Hi Greg: I definitely would not recomend a JRT for your situation. Sorry. Ken
CommentsJust got our JRT 1 month ago. (male dob 9/26/99) WE LOVE HIM !!! My son is 6 1/2 yrs old, with no siblings. NOW HE HAS A LITTLE BROTHER !! CommentsI am sitting here with Moo, who is a long-legged, tri-colored, rough coat. On August 13, Moo will be six years old. I have had this dog (as in male), since he was ten months old. If I were smarter, Moo would be doing a lot more tricks. But as far as obedience, you couldn't want a nicer dog. We just finished a 3,000 mile car trip, from Los Angeles to the Okanagan Valley of Canada. We stayed in hotels and even took Moo into church. Moo has a vocabulary of at least 30 words, that I know of. He is keen on cats, squirrels, rats, mice, and he would even like to get into a fight. He knows about the property line, comes when he is called; but I am nervous with him, when very small children come running up. He dosen't like "rug rats"; and I don't blame him. But a little incident could be devastating for a dog--parents should never let small children rush up to a strange dog. This happens all the time; because the Jack Russell is so personable and quite cute. Thank you: I'd like to say more; since I am in love with Moo. I wish I had the energy to work my dog more, but as a gaurdian, I do keep him close to me and protect him; because he wants to fight Doberman Pinchers. Best Wishes, Laren devastating for the dog.
CommentsAren't they the craziest? I have a 4 year old female who is just wonderful to my family and myself.

CommentsRick and I are the proud owners on a JRT for the last 5 years. He has given us a lot of love and companionship. Riley can be aggressive and loving. Although he is not a working dog, Riley loves the water and will swim til exhaustion if let go. He will dive for rocks and push rocks around the ground with his nose amusing himself and us. I have enjoyed you website. Thanks Chris

CommentsI really enjoyed your web site. We just bought a Jack Russell puppy. Her name is Madison (Maddie for short.) We have only had her a week and already she understands what "No!" means. She is very smart. We are training her not to nip and bite unappropriate things and your suggestions on this supported our methods. I also enjoyed your photos. It's fun to see and read about other JRT's.
CommentsDon't really have a comment, more like a plea for help. I love my JRT (Maxx), but have one problem. He bites, especially if he is outside and sees a stranger, or is inside and gets overly excited. Please, point me in a direction for help! Thanks, Mindy Gordon

CommentsMy 8 year old and i have ben reading and asking lots of questions about J.R.T. We live on three acres in Aptos C.A. I have 2 horses and three ponies. We have a freind who has a Jack Russel who is ready to go at any time and my son loves her. My son has wanted one for three years now. He has now taken some responsiblaty with the chores around our place and I feel he's ready for a dog with training guidence. I however have had labs all my life. I have two from the lab recue. Spot is now 13, when i was called about her when she was at the vets due to abuse and naglect. Joe Joe now 4 was at the pound and i was informed she was due to be uthanized the next day and they needed a temp placement(Yea right). I love my dogs and after lots of care, time, training, and i took them every where the first year, their great dogs and addition to our family. I thank the person for the bad dog information, its good to hear the truth about what to look for. Does anyone have advise for us, Or maybe has a dog that did not work out.(prefure young)
CommentsHi, I talked with you at the Fox Cry Spring Fling, you looked at my bitch Dixie and decided, that she was a suitable breeding partner for Spike. I bred her to Fox Island Crush, and am sitting with her today as she whelps. Two tri Boys so far. I am still interested in Spike for her next breeding. Crush is close by, and since she oonly had one puppy last year when I shipped her, I thought I would try taking her where I could drive. I'm very lucky that there was a good dog so close. However, he is rather large, so next time I wnat to use Spike. Daphne
CommentsGreat website. We have 5 Jack Russells. They are a handful.
CommentsGreat website. We have 5 Jack Russells. They are a handful.
CommentsMy Jack Russell of eleven years was recently bitten by a rattle snake and died from the attack. I just want everyone to be careful with their Jack this summer when they're out romping and hunting. Also, I was wondering if anyone has information on the JRT Rescue Association. I had adopted my Jack from a local humane society and I am considering adopting another Jack in a year or so. I enjoyed the site!
Commentswhat a great website!
CommentsGreat site! We have male JR Sampson. He is so much fun!! We are looking for a mate for him.
Commentswe were away on vacation and had someone setting our jack russel and he was stolen now i am trying to find a replacement he was our little boys best friend of one year and some jerk stole him
CommentsWe currently have a male JRT (Wylie) that is 2 years old and is absolutely wonderful. My husband and I work full time so Wylie has to be alone during the day. We are thinking of getting another JRT as a companion to him. Is it better to get a male or female? We were thinking of adopting a JRT from the Rescue Association, but we have cats and apparently JRTs don't get along with cats as a general rule. Should we be looking at getting a puppy so we can raise him/her with the cats like we did Wylie? Or is it possible to bring an adult JRT into a home with cats?

CommentsI am in the process of receiving 11 month old male named Jack from a friend who couldn't take care of him I really look forward to working with him in the field. CommentsThanks for sharing your beautiful dogs. We have 1 JRT and she is the love of our life. Hope to see you at a Canadian trial one day. We are former JRTCA members that have moved to Hudson Quebec. Joanne, Frank, Kelsey and Sofie (the jack)Buskland
CommentsVery helpful information. I own my first JR puppy and he is very active. I am having problems with his skin and hair loss, any suggestions.
CommentsInteresting site! My JR puppy has been barking ever since I clicked onto your spot and it barked at us! She has been looking all over the house for whoever barked at her!

CommentsTHANK-YOU for all the first hand information. We are thinking about taking on an abused jack russell terrier. Her leg is presently in a cast (for the third time) and we know that she will need a lot of extra TLC. We already have a chihuahua, a beagle and a rat terrier and was wondering just how a JRT would fit in. Our three little girls get along great together and we are sure that they would have no problem accepting another "sibbling", but are JRT accepting of other dogs? I pray that we can get her and give her all the love and care that she needs. THANKS AGAIN!!

CommentsI´ve just passed by and come to know abouot your site. I think it´s very nice, but I`m missing some new hunting adventures. The JR are a very good allround dog. My four year old bitch tracks wounded moose, hunt moose, goes underground and are very good at obedience and agility (it´s quite common with JR:s at agility in Sweden). I would be glad to recieve comments from JR lovers all over the World.
CommentsSmall Jack that we just got this past weekend and is quite small in size about 5 pounds at 4 months Very active in the evenings almost like a baby gets in the pm when you want them to sleep. Very active and the cutest little dog. Already can heal, sit and knows his name which is Petie after the rascals movie when you call him. He sems like a very bright breed.
CommentsGREAT SITE!!!

CommentsJust got a Jack/Rat from a friend. I'm finding stories about this breed very interesting. We're enjoying our puppy but hope we have the energy to keep up with "Allie". We're a family of a Dad (me) a Mom and two daughters (ages 16 & 13). Thank you for your information. We don't hunt but have three acres and a year-old cat who seems to like his new wrestling partner.
CommentsI have always admired the tenacity of the Jack Russell both in a working and domestic envrionment. I am the owner of three, Ratty, Fatty and Grubb. They do not work but provide me with excercise and company. Thankyou for your page.

CommentsHi. No I'm not going to write everyday. Yesterday, having regained my sense of jack russell humour, I decided to purchase a small pool for him to play in and run around on our upper deck. My son filled up the laundry rm tub with clear warm water to bucket to the little dog pool. We filled it with margarine lids and colourful plastic toys, and Spike LOVED it!! What a lot of fun watching him splish splash around. My washing machine empties into the laundry sink cuz hubby never put in the the proper pipe behind the washer. I always check the sink for blockage before I launder. Last night I didn't - see - the clear water in the tub, and set the machine for a full wash. I flooded the entire laundry room, 1/2 the adjacent kitchen, down the vent into furnace pipes and onto the basement floor. Sustained minimal damage to musical instuments and drums. But Spike loves his pool. :)
CommentsGreetings! I am so thankful to have found your website. My husband & I have been blessed to have a JRT enter into our lives. She (Freckles) has been in our home almost a month. Long story short, we got her from a family that said she was just too much to handle. They have 2 big dogs & thus, Freckles would act out by potty inside house(she is 18 mts old). Well, we feel within the 3+ weeks we've had her, she has already learned to go "outside to potty". Think it is a safe bet? :) My question to you is: Will we ever be able to let her go w/out a lease on our walks & will we always have to keep her on lease/rope in yard? We are getting ready to move to a marina & our house has a big yard so I'd love it if there is hope she can roam w/out restraint @ some point. Sure, I realize there will be an adjustment period to new home & surroundings....what do you think? Please reply when you can. Oh, as other respondents to your website have stated, we feel nothing but "JOY" from being blessed with Freckles in our lives.
CommentsI have just become the proud owner of a Jack Russell pup 9 weeks old and by coincidence called Meggie (although jokingly this is short for Mega Byte) she is the first small dog i have owned having been a great dane and german shepherd owner in the past but this little creature is as much dog as any of them she is also a real companion as i travel my large rural Australian parish and a great hit with the school children i visit on my rounds i commend you on your pages and say God Bless keep up the good work David
CommentsFurther to my last msge, we really do care alot for our mega Spike. Any tips on training him NOT to dart out an open door? Any tips on chew toys - currently the ONLY toy he cannot chew thru is the black kong. All else last only minutes. I also noticed that most of the jacks in your photo gallery don't have leashes on. I am afraid to take one off ours that he runs away forever. Any tips? When can I trust him? What am I saying... he's a jack russell, and the answer is 'never'. Seriously though, any suggestions wud be appreciated. Our Spike, incidentally, was very easy to train, and housebreak. He used to have RUN (?) of the house, now just has main floor and basement. How did we stop him from coming up the stairs? Answer: think like a dog. I am finding myself to be very clever. :)
CommentsOur JRT - Spike - is certainly a handful, and I found your article very enlightening. Spike will be 2 yrs old Nov. 7/00. We had him professional trained, and he is actually a pretty good dog. Apparently he is relatively 'tame' compared to other Jack Russell's - until he gets out in the yard. We are in a new home, and have no fences, so he's always on a rope. And boy does he bark. We think he's a great dog, but the jumping and barking take a lot of getting used too. Right? And we have had to get used to checking where he is BEFORE you open any outside doors - or he's GONE! Lately though, we have been finding him to be a lot of work... maybe the thrill is wearing off. We all agreed that if we really didn't want him anymore, that he cud go back to the breeder as there was a 2 yr agreement, that we cud return him to her. But then we re-thought and have decided to keep him. I think it was that cute little face. If he only knew.... Regards.
CommentsI have a lovely JRT boy, and love reading about the breed to gain insight and information that will help me with him.
CommentsI am picking up my first JR puppy in one weeks time and I can hardly wait. I previously was involved with Dobermann's (who I still love) but when I lost my last love I thought it is time I got myself a JR. To me a JR and Dobermann are very similar in their nature. I am looking forward to picking up my little girl JR and an searching the net for information.

CommentsGood site. We have four and love the breed.
CommentsGreat site. We have just became the proud parents of a Jack Russell and find her to be the best friend and companion in our home. Her energy and happiness transferes to the whole house. We only have one problum, the cats. Is there a way to introuduce them to Tippy. She just chases them. They haven't come out of the basement since she got here. There are three of them, and are all adult cats. If you can help with this problum I would appreciate it very much. Our dogs and cats have always got along. Thank you
CommentsKen, One of the most informative websites I've come across. Wondering if you received (via snail-mail) the info on my bitch. We have since been out and she located and worked 'coon and 'hog in the same afternoon. Mary Stevens 3906 Masterbrook Dr Independence, MO 64055 816 478-2057

CommentsWe have a Jack Russell Terrier, will our cats ever become friends with her. The cats live in the basement. We love this dog so much and want her to get along with the cats. Are we asking the impossible? Or is ther a way to make them friends. I don't want Tipppy to kill the cats.
CommentsWE HAVE A PAIR OF JR'S AND THEY HAVE BEEN WONDERFUL. THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS OUR MALE, HE KEEPS FORGETTING HES A DOG. OUR MALE STAYS INSIDE AND THE FEMALE IS THE OUTSIDE DOG. WE'VE HAD 2 LITTERS OF PUPS AND BASICLY ENJOYED THAT ASPECT ALSO. HAVE COME TO BELIEVE IF YOU CAN SURIVE THE FIRST 2 YRS. THEN YOU WILL HAVE A VERY NICE PET/WORKING DOG.
CommentsVery good
CommentsI love your dogs. I want a dog.
CommentsWe are in the process of buying a BullMastiff puppy for security reasons and were wondering whether our Jack Russel, who is presently "QUEEN OF THE CASTLE" will accept the new addition.

CommentsAm debating whether I am courageous enough to commit to a Jack Russell. Am not ready yet, as I have 2 large dogs (one is getting elderly). I live on a 3 acre horse farm, completely fenced (wire mesh) and geared to animal safety and comfort. My dogs go where I go (inside or out); I need a dog to be trustworthy inside the house as well as outside (of course, with proper education given). Would like a dog who herds horses a bit, and hunts mice and gophers. But I also keep chickens and gamebirds as pets, so I am concerned about them in the presence of a terrier. I am readily trained by my dogs, but it's a mutual arrangement; I'm simply crazy over them, as they give me so much joy. I was thinking that perhaps I might be a candidate for a grown terrier, when the day comes that my one surviving dog needs a companion. Will a terrier accept an adult large dog, or should I expect a battle over hierarchy?
CommentsI'm looking for this beautiful dog, but I don't know where can I get one, here in Mexico city. Please, if you know where can I get one specimen of this pretty dog, tell me. Thanks a lot

CommentsWe have added a new member to our family. His name is Baxter. He is too much fun. Baxter has definatley change our lives. I have never owned a small dog but this little guy has an attitude like a great dane. I really enjoyed your site. I know what you mean about owning a Jack Russell. that just doesn't happen. They run the show.
CommentsGlad to see that jack russell terriers are as popular in America as they are here. I have two jack russells and I cannot imagine life without them.
CommentsSaw your address in the JRTCA Chat room. Nice! Great dogs, keep working those terriers!

CommentsI thank you for the work you have put into this great and very informative site.
CommentsWe have a jack russell name THOR and he is absolutely wonderlfully smart, crazy and nuts but adorable. We also have a Rottie and he gives her a run for her money. Actually, he swears he's in charge of the whole house and neighborhood. Sounds familiar ?
CommentsI LIVE WITH A JACK RUSSELL. HE RUNS MY LIFE.HE COMES TO WORK WITH ME EVERY DAY,AND RUNS WITH THE HORSES ALL DAY LONG.HE HAS FARTHERED 13 PUPPIES.TWO WEEKS AGO HE HAD 6 PUPPIES.THEY ARE THE BEST PET TO HAVE.THEY KEEP YOU GOING ALL THE TIME.HE IS MY LABS BEST FRIEND.HIS NAME IS CODY AND I LOVE HIM SO MUCH.
CommentsWe live with a Jack Russell Mix, Part wirehair Fox named "Rusty" we didn't realize that was a common name for this type of dog. He is in charge of our household but we do not hunt. Rusty hunts on his own in our yard. It is his job to keep squirrels off the fence and birds from drinking his water. He does this well and has a love/hate relationship with the squirrel who lives in the pecan tree.
CommentsI'm a new Jack owner. Our tweetie-buttons name is FEZ. We got him from Rose Ried. I'd love to get on a mailing list for JRT events, got any suggestions?
CommentsGreat dogs!!
CommentsI HAVE A 3 1/2 YEAR OLD JACK RUSSELL, HIS NAME IS RILEY, HE IS QUITE A HANDFUL. DOES HE RUN OUR HOUSE, YES! I HAVE A CUTE STORY TO SHARE. HE IS VERY JEALOUS OF OTHER DOGS, THE OTHER DAY I WAS PETTING MY MOTHERS DOG AND RILEY GROWLED AND TRIED TO BITE THE DOG. I REPRIMANDED HIM AND TOLD HIM HE SHOULD BE NICE NOT NAUGHTY. SO, HE GOES OVER TO THE OTHER DOG AND PLACES HIS PAW ON HIS BACK AND LICKED HIM, HE THAN PROCEEDED TO WALK BACK OVER TO ME. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT, IT WAS LIKE HE WAS APOLOGIZING. ANYWAY, THEY ARE GREAT DOGS AND VERY INTELLIGENT. LOVED YOUR WEBSITE!
CommentsMy family and I are interested in maybe adding a Jack Russell Terrier to our family. This web site is very informative and will help us in the decision making if we want one of these beautiful breed of dogs. Thank you, Heather Barker
CommentsWonderful Website! The barks woke up my JRs. Very informative. Can I refer people who are interested in the breed to your hunting sight as I am the JRTCA Russell Rescue Representative for Miami....and I like to show & tell interested parties just what these Dogs are bred for! Congradulations on all your recent Natural Instinct accomplishments! I dream of more hunting for my dogs but am so far away from it in Miami. All the best, Catherine Jean Tobias...Bamboo Trot, Miami.
CommentsI love my jrt
Commentsi love jack russel terriers but some don't look like jack russell for example some are totally all white with just a spot or two while others are almost all covered and have a very dark face and others have very tiny eyes and are short does this mean they are a mix?
CommentsI have a three year old jrt. Her name is angel and sh is the sweetistlittle thing. You should get a web pages ASAP!!!!! Love:Ashley
CommentsWe bought our precious, darling Maggie last January (1999) in Toronto. She is entirely white, except for tiny spots of brown and black on her ears. She has a wiry, broken coat -- much like a piglet. She meets the standards for height and length. We just adore her, and knew she would be an excellent mom. However, we decided to be responsible owners and had her fixed last summer. I have often regretted that since, and realize there is no way to reverse things that we're aware of. Anyways, we have thought about a companion for Maggie, but aren't sure how to go about it. Any suggestions? Maggie is like our child in many ways (although enjoys the wonders of doggiehood) and we want the best for her. Thanks for your help. Sincerely, Leeanne Lavis, Clinton, Ontario. (May 30, 2000.)
CommentsAll these web sites on Jack Russells have very negative comments. Our last dog was a shepard, lab and border collie mix. I don't think anything could be worse than him. He even dug holes in our walls. But we kept him and loved him and he even died in my husband's arms. It took us two years to get over (or recover depending on how you look at it) him and get another dog. We now have a Jack Russell. She seems pretty good, but we have only had her for two days. I don't think any dog could be worse. We thought he was one of a kind. Now it seems that we have another one just like him, only a smaller version. Our previous dog's personality traits match the Jack Russell so I'm sure we can handle it. Anyway we are sure looking forward to it.
CommentsThat was a nice story. I have a 2 year old JRT named Frank. I named him that because of the movie, "THE DEVIL'S OWN" with Brad Pitt, and Harrison Ford. In the movie, Brad Pitt was "Frankie the Angel", an Irish Republican Army Spy. He looked sweet and innocent in the movie. However, anyone who bothered him, got their ass kicked. He was a bad dude. That is the way i feel about Frank. He looks cute, however, he is fearless. He takes on any dog in the neighborhood. I guess he is bigger than most "Jackies", and weighs 24lbs. oh well,....congratulations on your JRT, and long as you use a firm hand,....Sassy and her puppies will be alright.

CommentsHi, loved your website. I've had Buddy and Holly for 8 years. Holly has given me two litters and then I had them both fixed as I had a hard time giving up the pups and finding the "right homes" for them. You would have thought I was adopting out "real children". One of her pups is the mascot of a famous local art gallery named after him "Oscar".
CommentsI have had "Scrappy" for 13 years now and he's the best friend a guy could ask for!
Commentsi luv the way you set up your web page also like the the pages where all the puppies are

CommentsGreat site, I have JRT(sailor) he is 2 and he has been nothing but fun since the day I brought him home. I did learn that these type of dogs require a lot of time and training, so for anyone who is looking at buying a JRT they should read up on them and be prepared to give lots of time and energy to them, but in return you will get a loving companion! I LOVE YOU SAILOR!
CommentsLooking forward ot living onthe farm raising dogs and riding horses for a long time. Currently own one bitch 2 yrs and looking for a suitable mate to breed with.
CommentsMy husband and I recently bought a Jack Russell puppy. Her name is Shelby and she just 7 weeks old. Initially, my husband had his mind set on a Jack Russell for tracking purposes. He is in the animal control business. I have become very attached to her myself. I was told before we got her that Jack Russells are highly intelligent animals. I can see that now because, even at such a young age, she is so aware of everything and everybody. She knows and responds to "no" and "outside". I am wondering if you could direct me to a website that deals with training this type of dog. I know she has so much potential and I do not want to stiffle her abilities. She is already an amazing pet and she certainly has brought a little more sunshine into our lives. Thank you for your time. Kay
CommentsIreally enjoyed your site.....very infomative, fun and great dogs!!!
CommentsOn the site info. on breeding there are 2 pictures of dogs, are those the dogs that are the puppies? it also says on that page that there will be a litter in early april, are there still pups? please let me know, every site that i have made contact with is very far from my home. i do need to find and aquire a little jrt.
CommentsMy Jack Russel Edgar and I loved it!!! A very informative web site... "I'll be back"!#*!.
CommentsGreat site with lots of wonderful info & pictures! NICE terriers too : ) Hope to see you at some trials in the future! Keep 'em working
CommentsOur 6 month old JRT (Zora) is a handful. By day, she hunts gophers and mice in the grove. By night, she controls the house! Intelligent and fun, she demands our attention. It's like raising another child who always seems to find trouble. One thing we have learned: never let her run without supervision-- She's the perfect size for coyotes and hawks. We know some people who lost their young JRT to a hawk from a fenced yard.

CommentsWhat a neat site! We are currently taking care of a JRT while our friend settles into a new home! We are falling in love with him more every day! We already have a 4 year old female Boxer, who loves her new buddy Shadow. Thank you for the informative site!
CommentsI love your site, but not as much as I love my Jack Russell Terrier "Georgie Wall"
CommentsWhat a great JR Sassy is, I used to hunt my male Pip until we went off to live on a boat. Now he earns his keep driving off marauders like swans and seagulls from the marina where we live. They are so adaptable! Couldn't believe he would take to a waterborne life so well. And in a few short hours he reverts to a land side hunter as if he has never been away. I love him to bits and could not imagine a life without him All good wishes Jack
CommentsWe got our first JRT puppy in February and we're enjoying him SO MUCH! He is so full of spunk, and keeps our whole family on our toes! His name is Dodger and he's 6 months old now. I really enjoyed reading about your terriers, and I also loved all of the pictures!
CommentsWe'f got twoo P.J.R. Terrier and we are doing agility with them. They are verry good at it and I won al lot of racces. In 8 day ther is comming a tirth Jack also for agility.
CommentsWe've just connected to the internet and the very first site I just had to check out was on Jack Russells. My husband and I have been the proud parents of Molly since she was given away at 8 months. She is know 12 months old. How true it is that the Jack Russell Terrier owns you and not the other way around!
CommentsYou have a beautiful webpage! I wonder if you have any advice to give me on house training problems that I am having with my Jack?
CommentsI have a 6 month old white JRT called Winston. I am looking for advice concerning, training, feeding, exercise and any other usuful tips. thank you Jim
Commentsdo you know of any breeders in Scotland?
CommentsWe are enjoying your site. We just adopted our new little puppy last month. He is now 3 1/2 months old. His name is Lucky and he is a full bread Jack Russell. We'd love to learn more about raising him and being a good family for him.
CommentsI have a JRT and he is cuter then any of the ones I saw on this site. I think that these are the best kinds of dogs in the world. Do you think that they are very good dogs. Ours is trained and everybody loves our dog Lucky.
CommentsWe have just added a new addition to our family. We have purchased a 4month old Jack Russel Terrier. We just love him.
CommentsI am considering getting a one year old female. Do they adjust or bond well with a new family at that age. I've always got pups at 6-8 wks of age. I raise yorkies,poodles,min.pinchers. Do these dogs have the same temperment as min.pins. (hiper, veryactive)? Thanks for any information you can give
CommentsI don't know much about the JRT. I would like more information on their breed. I raise yorkies, poodles, and min.pinchers,aust.shephards. I am thinking about getting a one year old female JRT.
CommentsAs a JRT owner this is a brilliant website, I would not swap my dog for anything. It is the first dog I have ever had and we had Babsie because my husband had always loved JRTs. Like yours she is part of the family
CommentsHi!! Great website! I enjoyed all the pics. I have a male, broken, named Sparky.
CommentsI have a female JRT . Her name is Mattie. I love her to death and she returns the feeling. Her job is to remove the moles from the yard and she does a great job.

CommentsI am researching JRT's because I think I would like to own a JR one day. If You can give me any that might be helpful, please contact me. Thanks Laurie
CommentsWe have a 4-1/2 month old girl named "Jill". The family that helped select her have a boy; interested in breeding. Your information is good as I've always owned spayed male big dogs in the past. I field trained a golden retreiver and had good success. We're "city folk" now but love Jill and are interested in learning about breeding before we make neutering decisions. Your advice is welcome. Thanks.
CommentsI have wanted a good dog for several years, and, since my hubby really did not care for inside animals, we have decided to get a JRT....I have looked and researched about the JRT's, and that what WE have decided to get. But, where we live in a small country town, it is very hard to find JRT's.So maybe with your help you can help us find the dog I have been longing for....Sincerly, Becky
CommentsI love my 5 yr old jrt/he is an excellent companion

CommentsYou have a lovely website with lots of information. I'm hoping to adopt a JRT in the near future and this site helped a lot with the decision making.
CommentsJust bought a six week old JRT male. What a ball of fire. I bought him as a a companion for my 9 yr. old daughter...he is more than she bargained for. What is the beswt advise you can give regarding house breaking!
CommentsI have a four year old Jack Russell named Taz. This boy is full of energy and fun. He has his own island paradise here in Maine on which he is free to run and play as much as he needs. The squirrels are terrified. Good luck to anyone looking into this breed. Keep in mind they are "VERY" active and require a lot of attention and patience.

Our JRT's are 8 1/2 and 7 years old.

We love our dogs, the JRT'S rule our household and we love that way. I am glad to have found your Webpage and down the line, will consider adopting one that needs a home. Our JRT's are 8 1/2 and 7 years old.

CommentsJust put a deposit on a male puppy. He seemed to have the calmest disposition in the litter. Is there much difference between male and female personalities?
CommentsWe would like to have a Jack Russell Terrier, but wonder if they are not too active for a retired couple. We recently had to put our beloved Fella, a Yorkshire Terrier, down. He was 14 and had incurable Cancer. Broke our hearts. We don't intend to try to replace Fella, but we would love to have a new best friend. Any advise?

CommentsI loved your site. We are very excited about finding the right dog for 'us'.
CommentsThanks for the chance to talk about my special family We have a 11yr old girl called Meggie and she rules the roost and she knows it.For two independant professional people one little dog certainly puts us in our place. We lost our special mate Bennie a grand old man one month short of his 20th birthday This was 10mths ago and I still miss him dearly.Meg on the other hand has thrived with having our undivided attention.I couldn't imagine my life with out her.She has her own special box of toys and isn't happy until all of them have been brought out then she decides what she wants to play with. You can't be doing anything else at the time or you get told off.We know who the boss is in our house and wouldn't have it any other way

CommentsWe are looking for a female, good looking Jack Russell Terrier. We have a cute, pure, 14 month Jack Russell male with short legs. Thanks - we look forward to hearing from you.
CommentsMy JRT Petey (Peter Rabbit)Is a 2yr. old 17-1/4in. Parsons jack. We have been training competition agility with him now for 1 and a half years. We have just recently been able to work him of leash in short sessions. We are Petey's second owners having aquired him thru a friend whom made a unfortunate spontaneous purchase at a local pet store without having done her homework on the breed first. The problems we continue to have with Petey is his other dog aggression which takes away from his focus on the task at hand. It has taken us a great deal of effort to bring him this far in off leash agility and we would greatly appreciate any advice you might offer in regards to bringing him on further. We enjoyed your site and are curious about possibly entering him in go to ground or racing competitions. any comments?

CommentsThank you for posting your web site as I have found recently it very hard to find good breeders here in Calgary it you know of any will you let me know! Thanks a million , Novy
Commentsmy home and property is too small for a large hunting dog like a weimaraner. I am thinking about terrier that is a house dog,pet and hunting companion. We have a cat door that the dog can let itself outside anytime it wants.I think a terrier will hunt and retrieve ducks and pheasants. The dog only needs to find and flush birds and only retrieve ducks on still water ponds. Will a terrier do the job ?
CommentsYour site is great, i am creating a site about our 2 JRTs, we traveled across the U.S and Canada with them, For 7 months. I am a photographer specializing in dogs, so our site will be mainly about their travels. AbeandGeorge.com It is a great joy to live with Abe & george, i cannot imagine our lives without them as it seems you have the same love for your JRTs. thank you, Ingrid Niesen
CommentsJack Russell's behavior is not much different from my pit bull terrier except that it is smaller in size but not smaller in courage of hunting.
CommentsMy family has a 2 year old male Jack Russell Terrier. We always owned large dogs, German Shappards, but decided to give a small breed a try. We love Eddie! I can not tell people how much we enjoy him! We have three children, they have never had a better pet! I hope we are lucky enough to enjoy his full 14 years of his expected lifespan! Sincerely Margaret Storey
CommentsWe're not decided yet!
CommentsLiked your site. Very informative, especially the questions and answers. Thanks!

CommentsWe also have a JRT named Spike. He is a wonderful addition to our family and we would be lost without him!
CommentsI love Jack Russell terriers. However like you have found a lot of "jacks" are that and something else. I think I have just bought one that has alittle of something else. I cannot take her back now though can I? I also have a Parson Russell Terrier. I love them both. Nice seeing your lovely dogs.

CommentsVERY INTERESTING SITE. WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR ANOTHER JRT TO JOIN OUR THREE YEAR OLD BITCH. UNFORTUNATELY SHE HAS JUST LOST HER FRIEND AND SHE IS VERY LONELY.
CommentsDear Ken & Kathy I visit your site often and congratulate you on the combination of concise information plus fun photos of your great J.R.'s. Always a pleasure to visit. I purchased a pet J.R. from Vagabond Terriers (Lasher x Ducky)almost 2 years ago. You were going to come by my place with your pups but had to cancel unfortunately and so I ended up with another. When/If I get enough stamina to add to my family I would certainly contact Natural Instinct. Thanks for keeping your web site up to date and interesting.
CommentsWe have a Jack Russell Terrier called Beau. He is much loved and is such a little companion. He loves playing ball and chasing the cat and horse. We would be quite lost without him.
CommentsI think this is a pretty cool site except I didn't find what i needed. I think you should add more info about their behavior and living habits. I have two pups we just got recently and I tell you are they ever energetic they also bite quite a bit so they may not be the greatest around little kids. I am going to show are male named Zeke he has a brown and black face. My 9 year old sister is showing our female who has a little black on her ear and and black patch over her right eye. We are very glad we got them they are great company. I hope you get lots of visitors at your site. Bye and have a nice day. Sincerly, Kaleigh

CommentsI LOVE JACK RUSSELLS! I have a 1 and a half year old male named SPUD and I just bought a female and named her DIXIE. They are my children. They are so fun and very smart. Spud is fixed, so no puppies here. I commend you for breeding this special dogs! Maybe I will get 1 more in the near future.
CommentsI have recently become a stay at home mom except my nest is becoming very empty. I keep hearing that pets help this empty feeling---I don't know much about JRT so this is my first exploration of these little guys.
CommentsYour Jack russells are so cute. We have got one named Buffy and she is 12 this year but still very active. We live on 5 acers and Buffy runns around like a loon a tick and we cant stop her and when some one drives up the drive way and they have been there for a long time and she has been a sleep she runs down and starts barking. BYE BYE FOR NOW HOLLY MARSHALL...

CommentsI LOVE MY LITTLE JACK RUSSELL HER NAME IS BAILEY SHE IS A SMOOTH COAT 11 INCHES TALL.THIS A GREAT PLACE TO STOP.
CommentsI have a 6 mon. old JRT. He's the greatest little guy names MAX. I was checking out websites looking for more information on training and tricks.
CommentsMy JRT is definitely a few hands full to say the least. She is also the most intelligent dog that I've ever had. It's unbelievable how she continues to dominate every dog that comes near her. I also have a 95lb rot that she rules over. The breed never ceases to amaze me! Your site is very informative. The "dog barking" caused Cammy to run to every door and window. Thanks!
CommentsGreat site for great dogs. Remy's almost one year old with a broken coat and is a handful to live with.
Commentsgreat pictures and information abuot your jrts. i wish that i could have one but they cost way to much money and a dog just isnt worth that much unless they plan to live forever
Commentssweet sight.
CommentsCongratulations on your brilliant site. I have a wire haired JR called FITZEY. 11 months old and he is a little terror, but I love him all the same.
CommentsI would appreciate it if you could include tips on behaviour problems with the jack russell terrier. For instance, ours has a problem with peeing in the house and is timid. I know that this problem is universal to all dogs but perhaps there is something I don't know about this breed that I could use to solve this problem. If you have any tips, please email me. Thank you.
Commentsthank you
CommentsI am owned by a 10 month old JTR called Rosie. She is a joy to have. Full of life and character. Really enjoyed your web page about JRT's

CommentsWhat's not to love about a website dedicated to Jack Russell Terriers? My JRT, Eddie will be turning two this May and it is great to know that others care and are as excited about JRTs as me and my family is. thanx
Commentswe have just aquired a pup please add us to your mailing list if you have one.
CommentsSassy is a very pretty dog. We have our own JRT, a male named Spud. He's very much a part of our family. He saved my husband from our house fire back in August as it seems our smoke alarm did not work. Needless to say we are very much indebted to him and thankful he is a part of our family.
CommentsHi! My girlfriend and I just got our first Jack Russell, a tri-coloured, 2.5 lb ball of fiery attitude named Dioji (pronounced D.O.G.) I'm just looking to get a little insight as to why she does some of the things she does, and to gain a better understanding of her. I found a great website in yours. Thanx. Rob Jenkinson
Commentshello I have a two Jack Russel's that I love to hunt almost as much as they enjoy doing it. We have worked many animals like fox, racoon, and badger. I would love to get a few hunting pics from anyone that would like to send them, I have a few pics that I wouldn't mind showin Thank you, Jared

CommentsWe have a Jack Russell -Baloo.He has not been hunting yet, he will be able to come to England in the autumn and we hope to take him out with our local hunt.I am worried that he may be too large as he is as big as a parson jack russell .I would appreciate any training hints you may have please. I greatly enjoyed reading your article.
CommentsAm seriosly considering getting a JRT pup . Have you heard about a reputable breeder in Alberta.Thankyou for any assistance. HM
CommentsLove your website and found it to be most informative. We too have adopted a wonderful female JRT whom we named Pebbles. I get the distinct feeling she is much like Sassy 1. Her Mother aslo cloned her to be her right hand gal. Unfortunatley we had her spayed as she grew older about 6-7 months her body bloomed into a b-zillion brown spots and have heard it is less desirable trait to carry on. So, thanks for all the info. Working with her and she soaks up the education. A real quick learner and quick to please. Thanks again for your views and opinions. Please keep adding. I have book marked you site for future reading. Pam
CommentsI've enjoyed your webpage very much. I'm investigationg getting a JRT from Rescue, and all your information has been very helpful. Anyone with additional information that may be helpful, please feel free to E-mail me.
CommentsI have a JRT at home and I lllllloooovvvvvvveeeeee him sooooo- much. The first time I got him it was hard, but now we are family. And it is going to stay like that for a long time. ali
CommentsI HAVE TWO JACKS AND THEY ARE GREAT. I WORK FOR A VET CLINIC AND SAVED BOTH DOGS WHEN THEY WERE BABIES. ONE HAD PARVO AND THE OTHER WAS REVIVED FROM A C SECTION AND WOULD NOT NURSE. CHANCE AND RALPH ARE MY LITTLE TERRIORS.
CommentsFound your web page while surfing and couldn't put it down! We have a 3 year old Jack Russell (I love one of your other commentors name for his dog "a Jack Russell Terrorist" it sums up the breed perfectly) We have had other breeds but our "Bailey" is the best and I can't imagine ever adobting anything other than a JRT. Only problem with Bailey is that we didn't socialize her with other dogs when she was a pup and she is very "difficult" with other dogs. Loves people but goes right into an attack mode with even cocker's. Any suggestions?
CommentsHi, I just wanted to let you know that I loved your web page! I was browsing through it for some research for one of my college classes and came across pictures of SASSY 1, I must say that she looks just like my dog, BABY. Almost exactly alike....Same markings on the face and a cute little brown dot on her back! Cute pictures by the way! If I knew how to scan pictures, I would send you a picture of my dog so you could compare them two:) Thanks for taking time to read this. Kelli B. - Philadelphia, PA
CommentsWhat a wonderful web site. I have a nearly 8 year old Jack Russell, he is a smooth coated tan and white called Sebastian. He is the boss of the house. He has two cocker spaniel girlfriends, one black girl called Lottie and one golden girl called Ruby. As a pup he got himself into a lot of trouble nearly got electricuted chewing a lamp, jumping out of a moving car and going missing from the backyard ending up at the Animal Welfare League but he was an only child then. Now he has two girlfriends who have calmed him down quite a bit. They are the most wonderful dogs. I have also owned another jack russell that I found when I was a kid a black and white jack russell called Patch. My first dog and the reason I love dogs. He lived for about 17 years. So as you can see I am a Jack Russell fan from way back.

CommentsReally enjoyed your website. Very informative and loved your story on how you got Sassy 1 very entertaining. I have always been a dog lover and owner and my husband and I got our first JRT last August, '99 and she is now going on 10 months and is a fun little dog, we love her to pieces especially my husband he can't wait to get another one but we have a maltese who by the way we named Joy since she brought me a lot of Joy when a beloved Maltese I had died at the hands of an incompetent VET during a problem pregancy. We also have a temperamental 11 year old yorkie. The JRT who we named Cookie and the Maltese are inserapable they are like 2 peas in a pod and get along extremely well. The yorkie always picks a fight with the JRT and comes up on the short end, Cookie is a fierce fighter and doesn't no the work submission so they yorkie has gotten hurt just some hair pulled off but we do keep a close eye on those two, but it isn't Cookie's fault the yorkie always starts the fight first. Since she was our first JRT we did discover later as she matured that she has the "pricky ear" so we had her spade and now know what to look for in the next JRT we get thanks to some local breeders in our area. But we love her none the same and she has been a true delight. Cookie is a smooth coat and on the small size only about 10-11" tall which is fine since if she were larger she may do some real damage to our poor yorkie but now our beloved gentle Joy now thinks she too is a JRT and tries to imitate our Cookie which leaves us laughing. Thanks again for your delightful sight and when we are ready for another JRT I will definitely contact you. Yours look wonderful they have such cute faces and great coloring. Cookie has an all white body and tan patch over one eye and the opposite ear is tan. I would like the next one to have the proper ears and a little more coloring like the ones you have in your current litter page they are adorable. Thanks again, Lisa & Hank Skorija
CommentsWe have an eleven month old JRT named Woody. They must be the most fun dogs on the planet. Woody is affectionally known in the street as the noise police.Hates water (is this the norm) goes ballistic when were in the pool. People have commented why he has'nt had his tail docked it does'nt worry us, really think there is no need, have heard it will soon be made illegal in Australia to do so, would appreciate any ones comments. Great web page.
CommentsI have a six month old male that is sooo precious that thats what we named him. Well that was my daughters idea. My God, he has more energy than the electric company and is extremely hard to train or to just get him to stop biting (playfully) for just a second. Should I get a professional trainer? Any suggestions would help. Thanks
CommentsWow! What great dogs you have. Surely enjoyed your page. You should be commended on keeping the true hunting instinct of the JRT alive. I have really struggled to find real working/hunting Jacks. I hunt terriers and have a couple Patterdales and have been looking for a good hunting bred JRT. I would really appreciate it if you could send me more info on any pups you have available at this time. I am most interested in smaller dogs that are medium in grit. I have a family so my dogs spend a fair amount of time as family dogs and I hunt every chance I get. Please let me know more about your pups when you get a chance! Thanks, Tyler
CommentsYou're doing a great job on this website. Lots of useful information.

CommentsWe have just purchased a JRT X Malteses Terrier and she is only 18weeks old. Fortunately she is mostly JR and has many of there characteristics and colouring. We have named her Muttley and she is a fantastic little dog. We have just had her to puppy school where she out classed the other breeds. Im an searching the web for training hits and what work the JRT'S are used too. Thanks for your site it has been most helpful and will log on again shortly.

CommentsWe enjoyed reading your page and the link to Jack Russel Terrier Club. Our Jack Russel is white with black patches and brown around the eyes. His name is "Duke". What a dog. He brings us so much joy and fun. He is everything that the books say about a Jack Russel.

CommentsI have 2 JRTs, one raised from a puppy and one rescued. Both are wonderful and I will never have any other breed. They are indenpendent but loyal and have an amazing sense of humor. You do have to be a special person to be "owned" by a jack.
CommentsWe have 2 JRT and love them. They go everywhere with us and are a real joy.
CommentsWe have just acquired a nine mont old female terrier. She is a pure breed according to the previous owner but no papers exist. We are looking for other people who own such animals to discuss the habits of the dog.

CommentsMy mom and I just adopted a JRT her name is Missy. She can jump high. She is very stubborn too.I'm 11 years old.If there are any more kids that have JRTS please e-mail me so we can compare notes.
CommentsMy husband and I have had our little JRT for about a month now. What a wonderful little girl. She's full of love and energy and we couldn't be happier with this breed.
CommentsWe're interested in a JRT as a pet. We're 55yrs. old and have a cocker that is 13 and we're looking in the future for a good replacement -- without the grooming demands. We've heard a lot of 'good' about the JRT and wondered if you would suggest one of them as a pet...no hunting! We like the affection and devotion of a cocker and are looking for the same qualities. Also...do the JRT have a 'body odor' as some terriers do? Thanks for your reply, Steve Nielsen

CommentsI have 3 Jack Russell and I love them dearly. They are my kids. Each one has a temperment of their own. The two females gave birth on the same day. For the first coulple of weeks if the two mother's passed each other there was a tremendous fight. Locking jaws on each other and the whole bit. It would be nice to see on the site where you can get information about a problem you are facing with the, (an information site for everything from medical, behavior etc. I am a member of the JRTC. Otherwise I really like the site
CommentsGreat site, I got 3 Jack Russells, 2 daughters from my 3 year old female. Tey are born on the 14th of June. I would like to react on a mail about JR getting aggresive as they get older. I don't have that experience with other JR in my neighbourhood. It's iomportant the way you 'raised' them. But does anyone knows a good site for chatting with other JR owners?????? So than: mail me...

CommentsGreat job, I am a new owner, just got a puppy, Tucker.
CommentsWe Had our second litter
CommentsIt's good to see someone truly warning people about these little souls, so that when they get them it won't be a complete surprise. I have three JRs and have experienced the female aggressive behavior & lived through it. I adopted a 2 yr. old female and my original female decided she thought her time was up. They now live in (supervised) harmony! I try to help people understand what a jack is like but they all think I'm exagerating. My jacks go to the bush or on the trail for an hour a day, practice flyball and agility once a week and go to trials and tournaments regularly. With this they are somewhat content. Your web page is very well done, it's been a pleasure to visit it.

CommentsI have a three year old named Ed. He is a ferotious hunter with uncanny instincts. He has become a competent bird dog, only retreving downed birds. He is a very loving family dog,he sleeps with the kids whenever they sleep. Ed comes fishing with me when I go, he is curious but unsure of the underwater fish but will go after a flopping fish on land. I lead him across wide rivers and has learned to be a strong swimmer.

CommentsI was so pleased to find your web page.I found it very intresting and easy to find the information I was looking for. When we first decided to get a JRT I did a lot of research before we purchased one.My bit of advise to anyone thinking about getting a JRT,is to do a lot of researching before getting one. They can be a great addition to any family. We have a short hair male,12"tall,and looks very much like the TV dog Wish Bone. His name is T-Bone and he is as smart as a whip.Needless to say we love him dearly and have never regretted getting him. What a great web page I have enjoyed it very much. From a very happy JRT owner,Cinda...Vancouver Island,B.C.

I have been considering breeding jrt's-not sure of the best person to gain advice from...delilah's breeder was offended when i asked and her vet recommended going to the animal shelter and looking over strays! Any advice or other web sites to go to? I would like to possibly begin breeding within the next 2-3- years....
